Welcome to Little Wound Elementary School. My name is Ruth Ann Tapio, and I am excited to enter my second year as the elementary school principal.
I am honored to lead a school with such persevering students, an extremely dedicated staff, and a supportive school community. I feel very fortunate to be part of this school and to support the students and families. We are all excited to have students back in our classrooms and hallways filling them with energy and enthusiasm for learning.
Education is a lifelong process, and I firmly believe that elementary school lays the foundation for a successful future and educational career. This year all Kindergarten through second-grade instructional staff will focus on play-based learning. We strive to make learning engaging and fun for all students! All elementary students will also receive daily math and reading intervention.
This year our school will continue to focus our efforts on “being a good relative.” A positive school climate will lead to better outcomes for our students. The elementary school will continue to focus on improving our attendance for all students. Children who are absent even a day or two every few weeks often fall behind their peers. Students must be in school to be exposed to the necessary content to excel in school.
Most importantly, students are at the center of all school-related decisions. Because the relationships between families and the school are vital to the success of our students, I encourage you to become involved in every way possible. Parents are our children’s first educators and are essential partners in our school.
